Brick and stone

Brick and stone façade restoration

Spalling bricks, eroded joints, a bulging wall or a veneer that needs redoing: we bring your façade back so it keeps protecting the building for years.

Signs your façade needs attention

  • Cracked or crumbling bricks, or faces popping off (often after freezing)
  • Hollow or powdery mortar joints that come out when scratched
  • White stains (efflorescence) that come back every spring
  • Stair-step cracks following the joints, or a bulging wall
  • Water coming in near a brick wall

Repair or rebuild?

Often we can replace only the damaged bricks and redo the joints. When the veneer is too far gone or moving, it's better to take it down and rebuild it. We explain what we see on site and why we recommend one option over the other.

A façade that keeps its character

We look for brick and mortar that match the existing work and keep the original details: arches, soldier courses, sills. The goal is a repair you don't notice.

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace just a few bricks?

Yes, when the rest of the wall is sound. We remove the damaged bricks, install new ones in a close colour and redo the joints around them.

Why are there white stains on my brick?

That's efflorescence: salts carried through the masonry by water. It means water is getting into the wall, so we find where it comes from before cleaning.

Do you work on apartment buildings?

Yes. We work on houses, plexes and apartment buildings, with scaffolding when needed.
